Skin Care For 32 Year Old Woman – Beauty connoisseurs and celebrities alike have long touted the benefits of the microcurrent facial. You may have heard stories about how treatments produce impressive (and almost instant) results in fighting the signs of aging.
And while you’d usually have to go to a spa to see if the rumors are true, many at-home microcurrent devices are popping up in the beauty space, allowing people to try them out from the comfort of their own homes.

The thing is, these devices can be quite expensive. To find out if they’re worth buying, we reached out to two top estheticians to learn more about how the treatment works and which at-home options actually deliver results.
The Best Skincare Routine For 30s
Microcurrent devices use low electrical impulses to stimulate facial muscles, says Lara Kaiser, an esthetician in New York.
The treatment also stimulates adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production, adds Los Angeles-based celebrity esthetician Gina Marie. In essence, you are stimulating “food” for the cells to work more efficiently. “When we work on any type of technology when it comes to skin care, we always want to work at the cellular level,” he adds. “We want to stimulate the cells, we want to feed them and get some activity in there.
Facials can help lift and tighten the muscles in the area and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, helping your skin look smoother, brighter and rejuvenated. Kaiser compared it to “a Pilates class for your face.”
“They’ll take you along nicely,” Marie says. “It’s good for women my age, where you can start to feel the puffiness in the lower part of the face. It’s good for the neck, it’s good for the eye area.” It’s also a good anti-aging treatment for people who don’t want to try more invasive options like Botox or fillers.

But it’s not just for aging concerns, Kaiser adds, as she also uses it on patients struggling with acne. “This cellular energy helps speed up healing.”
Although it may sound unpleasant, the procedure should be painless. Because you’re dealing with an electric current, pregnant women who have epilepsy, seizures or other electronic implanted devices, such as pacemakers or cochlear implants or metal braces, should avoid the treatment, Marie says.
Typically, the microcurrent devices used in professional treatments are larger and have higher currents than home-use devices, Marie says. But even if they’re less powerful, that doesn’t mean you won’t still see the benefits.
Back to the exercise comparison. Even if you see a trainer once a week, you still need to do a few exercises on your own to see results. The idea is the same here, says Kaiser. She recommends at-home devices to her clients as a way to maintain results between appointments. They’re also great to have on hand when you feel like your skin needs a little boost before a big event or Zoom call.

And as much as we want a quick, one-stop solution to all our skin woes, don’t expect that from this (or skincare, really). The results are temporary, Marie says. You can usually expect the results to last for a few days initially. “You’ll see longer-lasting results with more consistency,” he adds. And the more comfortable and confident you are with the tool, the better the results.
According to Kaiser, you can use the device every other day. Again, as with exercise, “you want to give your muscles a rest day here and there,” he says. The amount of time you use depends on the device, but it’s usually around five to ten minutes – many have a timer set to let you know when it’s done. Most devices also come with a conductive gel that you apply before treatment. While some TikTokers have reported using different products like aloe vera or water, Marie advises against it.
“You’re not going to make the treatment work if you don’t use the right products to support it,” she says.
The Nuface microcurrent device is undoubtedly the most popular and recommended product in the category – and both experts we spoke to chose it. To use, Nuface suggests applying the included Nuface Gel Leave-On Primer and then gliding or tapping into the natural contours of the face for “instant, visible lifting.”

Shop editor Julie Rizzevuto says she loves her Nuface Trinity device. “I always see a difference when I use it regularly,” she says. “Plus, it’s a relaxing way to end the day with a little spa time while watching TV before bed. It’s not for work!”
Nuface’s range of microcurrent devices has also gained a fan base on TikTok, with videos showcasing the products garnering over 150 million views.
If you’re not sure if you’re ready for one of the larger units, a dedicated microcurrent treatment tool is one way to test the waters. Say you have deep lines between your eyes, crow’s feet, or lines around your mouth that are causing concern, the small NuFace device might be a good place to start addressing them, Kaiser says. But he added that once you start seeing results in one area, you’ll probably want to work on other areas of the face, like the jawline or forehead — and that can be harder to do with smaller tools.
The mini version of the popular Nuface tool is a favorite of many store employees, myself included. I find that when I remember to use it regularly – it’s good to have it by my bed so I can do it at night while I watch TV or read – I notice a difference in the overall glow of my face and my skin feels tighter, both immediately and over time.

According to the store’s editor, Adriana Brachi, she’s been using the gadget once a week for the past five years, adding that it’s one of the best investments in beauty tools I’ve made. “It’s so easy to use and I love that I can use it on the couch watching TV and then see the results so quickly,” she says.
The ZIIP Beauty microcurrent device, created by esthetician Melanie Simon, was also recommended by both experts. “The cool thing about ZiIP Beauty is that it comes with an app where it actually talks you through each treatment setting,” says Marie. There are instructional videos for several types of facial and targeted treatments.
Although the PureLift Face is a more expensive option, Kaiser calls it her “favorite” and says she loves the results. It has patented Triple Wave EMS technology that uses different frequencies that can target different layers of skin and muscles depending on the brand. Just apply the conductive serum gel and go.
This mini version of Foreo’s best-selling facial is designed to target the early signs of aging. It has six levels of microcurrent and has a unique anti-shock system that scans and measures your skin’s response to the current and adjusts its intensity for your comfort, the company says. While the brand notes that this version is good for younger skin, you can also get a full-size model designed to tackle fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin.

In addition to red light therapy and “therapeutic heat” technology, this skin care bar also uses the power of microcurrent therapy to tone facial muscles and smooth wrinkles, according to the brand. Even better, it helps fight the signs of aging and makes your skin look healthy.
