It’s the perfect hairstyle for those days when you’re feeling down and just need some hair off your face! As a bonus, if you have multiple clips, you can match them with your outfit for a more cohesive look!
If you’re getting a cut and your hair is slick so the cut slides out, try adding some setting powder (this is my favorite!) to your hair before you brush. Add some powder to the ends of the hair and shake it to cover the entire length of the hair. When you then put the nail clip on, the hair will not become smooth and the nail clip grips the hair more easily!
There are many different nail clippers to choose from, and the right one for you depends on a few things:
So to find the perfect cut for you, you’ll probably need to try a few and find out what works best for your hair!
How To Avoid Hair Extensions Showing
The nail clip I’m using is from H&M and I bought it in 2021, so I don’t know if it’s still available, but if you find it in a store, try something else. It’s good quality for the price and it’s still intact!
If you have medium hair, most clippers will work for you, depending on how many times you go through the clipper. If you have very thick/curly hair, you may need a hold clip like the Revlon (linked below).

Wow. I remember when I was in elementary school, I went on a trip to meet my “pen pal” and I had everything planned…. I wanted to have my hair in a nice french twist with a nail clip. Let’s just say my mom had a different idea and did my hair in 2 high pigtails instead. WOW WOW! My wildest dreams were crushed that day. It’s okay, Mom, I forgive you.
Now I can control how my hair looks (; I’m totally on board with the clip-on trend. I sport them both at home (to be honest, brushing my hair with a toddler is not my first choice) and when I’m out and about. Wearing clip-ins is SUPER and really on trend, so take advantage while you can!
All these styles that I am going to share are very specific. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE, can do this. The best part is that the styles look both messy and polished. You really can’t mix it up.

The first method is the simplest. Just pull your hair up halfway, add a clip and BOOM. Your hair is out of your face and you look very stylish.
This is converted according to method 1. Pull the hair up from the middle and then twist the hair into a ponytail. Then pull up the braided tail, then fold it in half and fasten it with a clip.
To do this, pull all the hair back, twist the tail and pull it up. Then add the clip and hang the extra hair. Finished! So simple, right?
This technique is the same as technique 2, but we are going to pull everything up, not half.

Now I want to tell you a little secret. If you struggle with your hair staying up when wearing either of the last two styles…you have to try them!

Then continue as usual with both styles. It helps keep your hair tight and strong, preventing your style from becoming loose and falling out. For our final style, we simply put our hair in a low bun and use a bobby pin instead of a bun! It is very beautiful and very tasty.

There may be a problem with the Instagram access token you are using. Your server may not be able to connect to Instagram at the moment. I don’t know about you, but I’m often wary of cute “easy” hairstyles. See, I have very fine hair that loves to fly – no amount of hairspray can keep it perfectly in place.
Instead of fixing the hair first and then trying to loosen it with hairspray, I create a hold before fixing the hair.
When combined, it creates texture so my hair holds – no hairspray needed. It works so well for me that every technique in this post starts with these two things.
(But, I must say, tread lightly with the mocking brush – otherwise things can quickly go 80s. :))
