How To Put Hair In A Ponytail – As much as I love the ponytail, I’ll be the first to admit that it’s a hairstyle to rock. Like sure, they’re running errands or “hitting the gym” (running with their shins) but taking time to do a ponytail.

With cute ’90s-inspired looks and casual and laid-back options that are free and easy, I’ve got something for everyone. Leave it to Yara Shah to complete the elegant high ponytail. Keep your bangs under control, brush your fringe for a cute texture and pin a ponytail at the top of the crown to add volume.

Still want a relaxed vibe with your ponytail? After lightly spritzing the roots and lengths with a texturizing spray, secure the hair at the nape of the neck with a silk tie (my favorite is this one from Slipi BBS), leaving a few loose pieces to frame the face.

For proof that a ponytail looks polished, check out these braided hairstyles. A smoothing brush, shine spray and fly tamer are all you need to recreate it.

IMHO, there is nothing better (or easier) than a high ponytail with loose layers that frame the face. Go full 90s, tie your hair back with a rubber band or go for a more subtle look with a clear rubber band.

If you love sleek updos, take your hairstyle to the next level with a bunch of sleek ponytails like this triple threat. Start with a half-up style, create another half-up ponytail below, then tie it all together at the nape of your neck to create a long, low ponytail.

You don’t need to be told how awesome rubber bands are (if you weren’t born after the 90s, ask). By wrapping your ponytail in one of these classic fabric-covered hair ties, you can easily transform your average ponytail into a stylish look.

Hairstylist Chris Appleton, known for his gravity-defying ponytails, swears by a bungee cord that keeps the ponytail perfectly in place. When you’re working with that much hair, a regular hair tie just won’t cut it.

You will most likely need extensions for this length. Another Appleton trick is to work in layers while attaching the clips to the bottom of the head. That way, your hair won’t look too obvious or peep when you pull it back.

This styling trick also doubles as a super cool ponytail look that keeps curls at their springiest. Tie the hair loosely at the top of the head with a rubber band, rubber band or claw clip, pull the curls forward and let them hang freely around the face.

Lately, beauty-obsessed TikTokers can’t get enough of us coming up with the “perfect ponytail” trick, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. As the weather warms up, most of us opt for low-maintenance updos to stay cool, and a high ponytail is always a winner. But while celebrity stylists and beauty influencers would have you believe that it only takes a few moments to style your nails, achieving bouncy, voluminous and even ponytails is actually not that easy.

There are hundreds of ponytail hacks on TikTok, but Kirsty Hollick (aka @the.bridalist, who follows the app’s hair tips and tutorials) went viral by showing followers how to achieve a quick summer ponytail that isn’t flat or boring. The best part is that you only need a simple scrunchie, and it doesn’t involve clips, hair balls (elastic hair bands are loved by professional hairdressers) or the need for complicated haircuts and product applications. Even better, it can be customized to suit your hair type, whether it’s thick, thin or in between; You don’t have to have flowing Rapunzel-style lengths for this to work.

The trick to the “perfect ponytail” is simple. First you’ll need a hair tie, but depending on the look you’re going for, you can also use a simple hair tie if you like. Brush your hair thoroughly with a brush like the Denman Large Paddle Styling Brush. Then take a hair tie and secure the hair with a double pin.

Separate the ponytail into two sections with your free hand before pulling the hair through the elastic for the third and final time. Turn the top of the head inside out and wrap the end of the elastic around the bottom of the ponytail. This leaves the top part of the hair free, but the bottom part of the hair is twisted back and pulled under with the fingers to tighten it.

You’ll get a big, bouncy ponytail that won’t fall out throughout the day. Depending on how polished you want the finish, you can pull small sections of hair around your face for a framing effect or stick stray strands together.

Wearing Your Hair Up: Have You Been Damaging Your Hair?

My hair is very thick and gravity affects daytime hairstyles, especially the ponytail, so I was interested in trying it out. Surprisingly, it’s not as difficult as you think, and I got it right on the second try. The first time, my hairline was too short, but I went for a bigger silk version which helped give me a beautiful Ariana Grande style high pony. I’m proof that it works on medium length hair, and thanks to the extra support on the bottom half, my ponytail stayed in place longer than ever.
