In particular, one is lined with fine tissue. So a few weeks ago I stopped by my childhood BFF’s salon, Nix and Row in Avon, Ohio, to get some tips on how to achieve the look. Scroll down for a brown ponytail tutorial a la Jasmine and Meach. 😉

Note: The way I styled my hair is exactly the same as the one I posted here. If you have stopped this program, feel free to go to the hairdressing section. But I will move on to my babies! 🙂

2. Using a flat iron, go through the entire hair and flatten the roots (about 2-2.5 inches deep). This will help prevent airplanes. It will keep the look clean/smooth.

5. Use a light coat of finishing spray to hold the styled hair. Be light so that the hair is flexible enough to be ready.

Okay, now you’re ready for the fun part. Here are some tips and tricks for creating the perfect high ponytail.

Gently pull all the hair with one hand. With the other hand, pull other sections of hair forward. You’ll want to randomly pull pieces from both sides of the piece, all the way to the hot side. You will know when enough is enough. 😉

Comb all the hair you plan to pull back, aiming for the ponytail to sit on top of the head. Pull your hair into tangles while wrapping it tightly with a thick ponytail holder.

Hold the tail firmly at the base with one hand. With the other hand, gently loosen the pulled hair. Basically, for this step, you want to release the hair straight back…not the hair hanging from the back of the hair tie, if that makes sense. However, you will want to pull gently, working from the tail holder to the face. That way you don’t create annoying bumps!

Once you’ve applied a sufficient amount to your head and face, add soft nails wherever you think you need extra protection. For mine I put them next to the tail because I don’t want them to move!

Since I’m always late, I’ve become a big fan of 5 minute hair. These looks only take a few minutes, but give the look of effort and proper grooming skills. Almost all of the past year, my go-to was a chic bun and high socks. This year, the low brown horse reigned supreme. It works well with clean and brown curly hair, but I like it when I do a low brown ponytail with curls on the second or third day. I have a lot of hair, so it takes a lot of effort to curl my entire head. So I want to show them as long as I can. And, now that it’s autumn and you’re likely to wear scarves and lots of layers, this low brown ponytail is perfect for avoiding standing, keeping your hair off your neck and showing off your ensemble.

First, I like to create this look around the center. It gives a sleek, brown ponytail look and more volume. Using a fine-toothed comb, try to make the part as clean as possible. It may take a few tries to get it right!

Next, spray your roots with dry shampoo or root lift spray to add texture to your hair. If you have 3 or 4 days of unwashed hair, I would definitely recommend dry shampoo. This will prevent creating a mass of unwanted product, excess oil and dust on your scalp.

Depending on how you want your low brown ponytail, pull sections of hair forward. To give an extra look to a formal dress, pull the large pieces forward and bend them with a curling iron. Repeat as many times as necessary (replacing the tail if necessary) until the hair looks the way you want it to look in the front and back.

Now your favorite ponytail! I saw a vlogger do it on YouTube and have been using his trick ever since. Use your fingers to separate the ponytail into top and bottom sections. To give it extra volume, insert a small hair clip at the base of the ponytail, placing it between the two sections. It will give the illusion of a full and voluminous low ponytail.

To hide the ponytail holder, take a section of hair from the bottom of your low brown ponytail. Wrap it tightly around the tail.

Carefully secure the braided hair in place with bobby pins. As embarrassing as it is to admit, this part was the hardest part for me to read. I always stuck the needle in some obvious place – and it looked like a stick sticking out of my head or something. To avoid the false stick, I started to insert a pin at the base of the low brown ponytail and push it through my hair.

Also, this 10-second step gives your low ponytail the illusion of extra effort—even though, in reality, you’ll need 10 seconds or less.

No matter how much effort you put into your hair, it won’t look well maintained if your roots are two inches long. The last step in this whole process is to cover any gray hairs (yes, I swear I’ve seen them) or roots that develop between salon visits. For my hair, I always use EVERPRObeauty Far From Root Magnetic Touch powder in black/black. Gray Away hides roots and gray hair instantly,
