While many of us accept hair loss, thinning of the crown and hair loss, for others, losing hair is like losing youth and identity. There is no shame in giving, but great honor in doing.

This time let’s focus on hair loss. In other words, the hairline that separates from your forehead, as opposed to the wide thinning that covers the entire crown of your head. These two types of hair are different and should be treated separately.

We spoke to trichologist Penny James and Ryan Turner, MD, board member expert, to get their expert knowledge on preventing and treating ingrown hairs. Here are some tips on how to curl your hair.

What Is Hairline, Mature Hairline And Balding Hairline 2023

“Hair loss can be caused by genetics, hormonal influences or aging,” says Turner. “Certain areas of the skin are affected differently by androgens, such as dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which can cause hair loss and male pattern baldness.”

If (and when) your body takes this process to a higher level will vary from person to person. So, if it hasn’t receded yet, pay attention to your hair and fix it when it starts receding. It never hurts to see an oncologist or dermatologist to find out which procedure is right for you and when.

When the hair follicle is damaged, new hair cannot grow; Medicines, supplements, lasers, injections, or topical treatments can only maintain hair growth or prevent hair loss.

When it comes to hair loss, shedding is different than general thinning and regrowth. “There are two types of hair growth and shedding on the head,” says James. “Although the crown area has been shown to respond well to treatment, it is difficult for new hair to grow in front of the hairline.”

Turner takes a closer look at the issue and says that most of us are too late to lose our hair and don’t care about the thickness of our crowns. Therefore, when the first signs of hair loss appear, it is possible to act quickly. “The problem is that the hairs are lost first, and as the years go by, the hairs fall asleep and become scarred, so there is no chance of regrowth [on the hair],” he said. It may happen later, and if men are treated, there is still time for the hair follicles to heal before the disease becomes permanent.”

. Prevention of hair loss starts at the first signs of hair loss or years (it does not come back). Everyone’s risk of hair loss is different, so there is no time to start preventive measures (except for a healthy lifestyle).

Finasteride is a form of Propecia. “It blocks an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase that converts testosterone to DHT,” says James. High doses of finasteride are used to treat prostate disease, while 1 mg per day is used for hair loss. Since DHT is the main cause of drying out your hair follicles, finasteride can reverse premature hair loss. (You may die when you’re older, but it’s less likely with finasteride.)

But finasteride has many important warnings, so you can consult a dermatologist. “Anyone taking finasteride should talk to their doctor about the side effects of the drug, which can cause a significant drop in male hormone levels,” Turner said. A rare side effect is loss of libido or impotence. Second, according to James, stopping finasteride can cause hair loss. So, once you start, plan to continue without side effects.

Can Minoxidil Improve A Receding Hairline?

The alternative to Rogaine, Minoxidil, is on the no. Basically, this topical solution (and sometimes an oral supplement) increases blood flow and delivers nutrients to the hair follicles, making them stronger and healthier. It is very effective on the crown of the head, to revive the sleeping follicles (those that have not grown hair for a year or more), thus preventing them from drying out forever. Therefore, about six months after using minoxidil, you will notice that you have more hair around the crown. Your hair is naturally stronger and fuller, but you’ve probably been through a lot of early-sleeping babies.

“Minoxidil prolongs the anagen phase (the growth phase of each hair follicle),” says James. He adds the following warning: “During the first few weeks of using minoxidil, you will experience some shedding. This is called telogen shedding. This is normal and should pass in three weeks.”

Minoxidil has the same effect for hair prevention: It strengthens the hair and reduces loss. However, it cannot restore lost hair like finasteride. “No solid research has shown that minoxidil has an effect on hair growth,” says Turner. “But we know there’s another benefit [in disease prevention] by increasing blood flow to that area.”

If you want a natural way to prevent hair loss, James recommends saw palmetto. It is found in some shampoos and conditioners and can be taken as a vitamin supplement. “Studies show that this herb reduces DHT production from testosterone, much like finasteride,” he writes. “It will be very effective in combination with topical minoxidil.”

I Hated My Hairline, So I Got A New One

Although research does not show that saw palmetto is as effective against hair loss as finasteride, the results are positive. A study summarized the test of 34 men and 28 women (ages 18 to 48) who applied saw palmetto extract to their oils and shampoos for three months. This application “increased hair growth by 35 percent and reduced oil production by 67 percent.”

It’s no wonder that leading a healthy, active lifestyle can have huge benefits for your hair. “Reducing stress is an important part of managing hair loss,” says Turner. Stress can be caused by bad habits such as smoking, drug use, alcohol consumption, excessive sugar consumption, lack of rest, fatigue and malnutrition. You can also consider adding hair supplements to your diet, many of which target hair growth.

“Most of us have vitamin D,” says James. “Vitamin D is very helpful for hair growth and strengthening. Along with B-complex vitamins, it helps to improve hair thickness and hair quality. Hair. He tells his patients about the benefits of applying essential oils: “There is little evidence. aloe vera stimulates hair growth by increasing blood flow to the area. Additionally, Rosemary oil, lavender oil, and tea tree oil have little evidence as hair restoration products for those looking for alternatives.

PRP and LLLT are two advanced techniques used to maintain hair strength. These include platelet-rich plasma and low-dose laser therapy, both of which should be discussed with your doctor.

With PRP, a blood sample is taken from the patient’s arm and then centrifuged to separate the plasma. “The serum contains special proteins and botanicals that help regenerate cells and regenerate hair follicles,” says Turner. Therefore, plasma is injected around the scalp to initiate hair growth and increase hair growth and strength.

Then LLLT. “Low-intensity laser therapy is a new treatment for hair loss that stimulates cell renewal and improves blood circulation,” Turner said.

These technologies can grow rapidly and other methods will emerge. It is very expensive. Therefore, it is important to talk to your doctor about the effective treatment that is right for you.

For some – but not all – scalp muscles can help with hair growth. “People who massage the scalp can put mechanical stress on the scalp and change the texture of the scalp,” says board-certified dermatologist Aleta Simmons. “These changes can increase the thickness of the hair.”
