Clip-in extensions are the least permanent extensions because you can quickly remove them and put them back on whenever you want. Unlike hair extension applications, clip-in applications usually take 5-15 minutes at home. Haircuts are also minimally invasive because they don’t require chemicals, heat, pressure or other styling methods – they penetrate your hair without damaging your natural hair. This is one of the many reasons why it is one of the most popular types of hair.
How To Attach Clip In Hair Extensions
Clip in hair extensions can be applied in minutes without the help of professional stylists. All you need is your favorite clip in hair extensions, a ponytail comb and large bobby pins and you’ll be ready to go in no time.
What Are The Most Natural Looking Hair Extensions
1. Part your hair at the top. Using a rat tail comb, create a horizontal parting at the top of the head about 2 inches from the neck. Use large clips to part the hair.
2. Place the hair and secure the clips. Place the clips near the roots of your hair and pull them down so that the texture matches your natural hair.
3. Mix it with your hair. Leave your hair cut and have extensions with your natural hair. Whether you’re using real hair or heat-resistant synthetic extensions, styling your hair with a straightener, curling iron, or blow dryer can help you create a sleek look.

Don’t worry about perfecting your clip extensions on the first try. Remember, clip in extensions are temporary, so you can remove them as many times as needed to get them just right. Hair extensions may be considered “old school” but they can be very affordable and easy to find. I’ve used them for a variety of things over the years. From releasing the first tapes on Expansion in the early 2000s to custom clips for my clients.
My clients ask me if they can make taffeta hair clips. The answer is yes, but it has always been a long and tedious process. Clip-in hairstyles are not fun at all. Not all of these clips should be attached to the extension cords.
Also, for thicker hair, you should sew the 2 pieces of fabric together and then sew the clips to get the basic thickness of the fabric. If you’re like me, sewing anything isn’t my idea of fun. Not to mention, the end result always feels like a craft project gone wrong.
The real question to be answered is: Can you easily convert texture spaces to clips? I finally said yes! After years of trial and error, I’m happy to report that you can transform most curly hair into clip-ins.
Different Ways To Use Hair Extensions
It’s not easy. The end result looks like you spent a lot of money on an extended clip. For a natural look, we used 100% human hair in a shade lighter than the natural color. Extensions come in a variety of colors and can be washed, heated and cut to achieve any look you desire.
We used SO.CAP.USA’s SHE 9-piece clip-on extension set because our goal was to add volume. These pieces come with a subtle wave to blend with our natural hair texture. Wash and dry the extensions as you would your natural hair.
You’ll be working from the bottom up, so divide your hair into sections and pin more on top of it.
If your hair is freshly washed, use dry shampoo to add a little fluff to the roots before applying the root spray. This will make the clips more secure so they don’t come off.

Cut the hair into small sections and use a back comb to pull the clips into the roots.
Hair pieces have two to three clips (very small pieces for filling have only one clip). Starting with a three-shoulder clip, you’ve exposed all of your shoulders.
Attach a clip at the back parting and pull it from the top to the point and close the clips. Make sure the edge of the chain is as close to the scalp as possible.
Comb the hair from the roots, being very careful not to damage the shaved area.

Place the pieces in your ears, keeping the clips away so they don’t show when you take your hair down (a good tip is not to put them in front of your ears). If the strands overlap, that’s fine, just make sure you’re pulling them into your hair instead of extending them.
After adding all the pieces, take the rest of the hair at the top of the crown and tuck it behind the comb. This will add more texture to the hair and hide the split ends better.
After combing the top section of hair, make sure the hairspray stays in place all day and the extensions are camouflaged. Since extensions are made from human hair, you can add any heat product or tool to your natural hair.

No two clip-sets are the same, so lay out all your pieces and strategize where they will go before you start. In my case, there were a total of five clamps: two thin, two wider and one large.
