When in doubt, dress above what people in the company wear on a daily basis. Check the company website/LinkedIn to get an idea of ​​the company’s style. 2. Wear plain clothes in neutral colors. This is not the time for noisy shirts, extravagant patterns or too much jewelry. 3. Shoes are important! Make sure they are clean, polished and in good condition. 4. Be aware of your body language. Shake hands firmly, smile, sit up straight and try not to make a fuss. 5. Make sure you know your resume and can provide samples or other information if requested. 6. Make sure you arrive on time. If the office is in an area you’re not familiar with, take a test drive so you don’t miss a day. 7. Answer the questions using the State, Task, Action, Outcome method, also known as the STAR method. You will be more credible as you can show that you have the experience listed on your resume. 8. Demonstrate important, data-backed evidence of your experience. There’s no point in reaching KPIs if you can’t provide the numbers to back them up. 9. “Why do you want to work in our company?”, “Can you tell me about yourself?” Practice answering common questions such as or “What are your strengths and weaknesses?” 10. Industry and company research. Good places to get more information are annual reports, industry specific media companies, company website/Glassdoor/LinkedIn. 11. Anticipate the interviewer’s concerns and reservations and prepare some strong responses. 12. Bring a notebook and pen to the interview. Ask the interviewer if they are happy with you taking notes if needed. 13. Prepare the questions you want to ask the interviewer. If it helps, list them in your notebook so you don’t forget them. Try not to ask questions that have already been answered during the interview. 14. Be smart and take responsibility for the conversation. Remember, too, that you want to make sure the job and the company are right for you. 15. Make sure your answers are positive and never speak negatively about your old company. 16. Know your unique selling points and be sure to communicate them with confidence. 17. Never share your salary expectations in an interview. If asked, respond such as, “My salary expectations match my experience and I am confident you can offer a competitive salary in today’s market.” Negotiations should only take place when you receive an offer. 18. Attitude questions are very common, so make sure you have good examples to share. It doesn’t need to be written down, but it’s a good reminder to think about situations beforehand. 19. Be yourself and do not exaggerate. 20. Send a thank you email within 24 hours of the interview to reiterate your interest in the position.
