In addition to the massive rise of disco music, the entertainment industry has exploded with incredible beauty trends led by a number of household names. To this day, people are still trying to recreate Diana Ross’ exaggerated eyelashes, Donna Summer’s fierce red nails, and Farrah Fawcett’s signature braided hairstyle.

“The 70s were a great decade for fashion and beauty inspiration,” says make-up artist Ashley Rebecca. We couldn’t agree more. In fact, recently some of our favorite celebs – Soviti and Rihanna – paid tribute to the cool vibe of the past with 70s inspired glam. And who can blame them? Anyone can go back in time by looking at nostalgic photos.
From playful shades and eyeshadow to long, intricately designed nails, we spoke to a few beauty experts to find out why these ’70s trends should be on your radar, as well as how you can get the look at home.
Hairstylists Mischa G and Cheri Amor both agree that 70s beauty was natural, effortless and elegant. “When it came to ’70s hair, it was about freedom through self-expression,” explains hairstylist Mischa G about the beauty era. “It’s timeless and never goes out of style,” adds Amor.
